There were scenes of chaos and celebrations as eight hostages were returned to Israel after being held hostage in Gaza for more than 15 months.

Three Israelis and five Thai nationals comprised the latest group of hostages released since the Gaza ceasefire was announced.

The Hamas-run Prisoners Media Office said 110 Palestinian prisoners were set to be freed after the return of the hostages, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, along with Defence Minister Israel Katz, ordered a delay following chaotic scenes in Khan Younis.
