French police closed train traffic to and from Paris Gare du Nord station on Friday after an unexploded World War II bomb was found on tracks leading to the terminal, train companies reported.

The bomb was found on the tracks during overnight works, train line RER B posted on X. Media said the discovery was made in the area of Saint-Denis, a suburb of Paris.

The Eurostar and all other trains were halted as police worked to disable the device.

Eurostar’s website shows trains from London to Paris scheduled to depart before 10:30 GMT on Friday were cancelled, and routes from Paris to London before noon local time (11:00 GMT) were also cancelled.

Eurostar said on its update that “due to an object on the tracks near Paris Gare du Nord, we are expecting disruption to our services this morning”.

Passengers could exchange their ticket for free to travel at another date or time in the same class, subject to availability, the train company said.
